La Lucarne switched on, sitting on a piece of furniture, its light reflected in the wood

Your phone can already show the weather, album covers, messages and photos.

But your phone lives in your pocket.
The Lucarne lives in your home.

It doesn’t ring, doesn’t buzz, doesn’t ask for anything. It just sits there, in the living room or the hallway, and changes when something happens. You notice it as you walk past, like a window.

What it does, in a few seconds

It’s easier to watch than to explain.

Where it comes from

The Lucarne wasn’t planned.

  1. 01 — The telephone

What if an old object could learn a new trick?

A rotary phone becomes a lamp. Turning the dial changes the light. The gesture has stayed; it’s the reason behind it that has changed.

  2. 02 — The radio

What if technology could move in without spoiling everything?

1950s radios playing today’s music. The original case, the original knobs, and a great deal of soldering in between.

  3. 03 — Compliance

Making an object that works and being allowed to sell it are two different disciplines.

These pieces were made to be sold. Then came the standards, electrical safety, electromagnetic compatibility, and the cost of certification, which can’t be shared out when an object exists as a single piece.

  4. 04 — The Lucarne

What if, this time, the object were designed from the outset to be able to leave the workshop?

A brand-new object, designed around its own components, made for small-batch production and for the requirements of a product on sale. The workshop’s first.

The whole story of the workshop →
The workshop’s experiments

Everything that came before.

Telephones, radios, lamps. These aren’t products that have sold out: they’re the workshop’s experiments, and the reason the Lucarne exists.

And the Lucarne?

This one, on the other hand, was designed to leave the workshop.

  • 64 × 64 LEDs in a 22 cm frame, wood or black acrylic
  • Controlled with the N°24 app, on iPhone and Android
  • Assembled and tested by hand in Prangins
